Treatment Philosophy: The highest priority is to provide organized daily activities that enhance confidence and self esteem for the children we serve. This is done through a series of activities structured around the theory of experiential learning. Each group of children creates an agreement on expected behaviors by the individuals in the group. This is the Full Value Contract. Each child is also encouraged to support the positive choices made by each teammate during an activity. This Challenge of Choice creates a supportive environment that allows each child to choose a comfortable level of participation. The residents and students are also provided opportunities to participate in special events on campus and in the community. |

Program Features:
Pekarek Adventure Challenge program featuring low and high element ropes course. Gross motor skills activities include basketball, soccer, softball, hockey, etc. Fine motor skills activities include arts & crafts, theater, thinking initiatives, etc. Summer & Winter Olympics, Fall Festival and other special events. On campus club activities include basketball, softball, bicycle, theater, gardening, bowling, skateboarding and rollerblading, strength & conditioning. Community involvement through Elkhart County 4-H, YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, YFC/Lifeline, Soap box Derby, church groups and more. Outings to baseball games, movies, concerts, skating, miniature golf and more. |
