Parent Classes
Stepping Up: For parents of “challenging” teenagers. Class focuses on redirecting crisis and potential crisis situations.

Topics include:
- Review of Adolescence
- Understanding Yourself & Your Teenager (parenting styles)
- Changing Your Response to Your Teen & Communicating Respect & Encouragement (2 lessons)
- Communication
- Encouraging Cooperation & Problem Solving
- Using Consequences to Build Responsibility
- Follow Through With Consequences
- Mission & Values; Pulling it All Together
Positive Parenting: For parents of younger children (pre-teen) and early elementary school. Parenting and family development will be the focus.

Topics include:
- Discipline & Punishment (The differences - Discipline means “to teach”
- Limits (setting limits, love & limits go hand-in-hand)
- Consequences (natural and logical consequences)
- Listening (non-listening actions, responding with understanding)
- Anger (a natural reaction, helping a child deal with anger, responding in a positive way)
- Challenging Behaviors (strategies to help children understand boundaries)
- Parenting Tools (parenting tools to nurture and teach; prevention strategies)
- Attention (Catch your child being good, focus on the positive behaviors)
- Respect (Respect is taught by example)
- Responsibility (teaching responsibility, a blend of independence and consideration)
- Monitoring (knowing at all times where your child is)
- Siblings (Sibling rivalry is natural, but so is sibling support, affection and friendship)
